Access part of your refund sooner

Qualifying taxpayers may apply to receive part of an anticipated federal refund sooner — up to $7,500, if approved.* Select $250, $500 and $1,000 options through Refund Advantage carry a 0% APR; larger amounts carry interest.
* A refund advance is an optional tax-refund-related loan and is not your actual tax refund. Approval, loan amount, APR, fees, availability and funding time depend on the participating financial institution and its eligibility, identity-verification and underwriting requirements. Not every applicant will qualify for an advance, or for the maximum amount.

Pre-acknowledgement advances open on January 2, before the IRS begins accepting returns. Applications are accepted through March 15.
Select $250, $500 and $1,000 loans through Refund Advantage carry a 0% APR — the cost to you on those is $0. Larger amounts carry interest.
The applicable loan disclosures are provided before you accept anything. Nothing is charged for asking whether you qualify.
File at our Easley office or through the secure client portal. The advance application is submitted with your return either way.
A refund advance is optional. Your return can be prepared and e-filed without applying for an advance or a Refund Transfer.
Refund advance applications open on January 2, 2027. Fill this in now and we will contact you when the season opens — and we can still start your return whenever you are ready.
A refund advance starts with a return, and we can file that for you in 44 of the 50 states — from the office in Easley or entirely online. The 6 shaded in the key are the ones we cannot take on right now.
The 6 we cannot currently file in: California, Connecticut, Maryland, Nevada, New York, Oregon.
Each of these states licenses or registers tax preparers on its own terms, separately from the IRS, and we are not currently registered in them.
Everywhere else — all 44 of the other 50 states — we can prepare and e-file your return without you setting foot in the office. If you are not sure where you stand, or you moved part-way through the year and have two states to think about, ask us before you file.
Your name, phone number, email address, whether you want to be considered for an advance, and whether you would rather come in or work virtually.
This decides where you go next. New clients create a portal account; returning clients sign in to the one they already have.
Upload your income documents and identification through the secure portal. Please do not email or text tax documents.
We prepare the return and, if you asked to be considered, submit the advance application to the participating financial institution alongside it.
The financial institution — not Elite Pro-Tax — reviews the application and decides approval and amount. We cannot change, override or appeal that decision.
Approved applicants may receive funds by direct deposit, prepaid card or printed check, depending on the product and what you selected.
The question we are asked most. On the $250, $500 and $1,000 options through Refund Advantage the answer is nothing — those carry a 0% APR. Above that, interest is charged only for the days between approval and your refund repaying the loan, and it stops at 60 days.
$250, $500 and $1,000 carry no interest. Interest-bearing loans start at $1,250.
Interest accrues only for the days between approval and your refund repaying the loan — and stops at 60 days however long the IRS takes.
Nobody can tell you in advance how long the IRS will take. Try 14, 21 and 28 days to see the range you would be choosing between.
Repaid out of your refund when the IRS releases it. If your refund arrives sooner you pay less; if it takes longer than 60 days the charge stops there.
This is the interest, not the whole cost of filing. Tax-preparation fees, a Refund Transfer, card or check fees are separate from the loan’s APR. You will be given the applicable disclosures, with every figure on them, before you agree to anything.
Refund Advantage terms. Simple interest at 36% APR, capped at 60 days — the same calculation as the lender’s own pricing sheet.
Cost per $1,000 borrowed, from the lender’s taxpayer pricing sheet. Multiply by however many thousands you borrow — a $3,400advance repaid in 21 days is 3.4 × $20.71, or about $70.41.
| If your refund is deposited in | Your cost per $1,000 |
|---|---|
| 14 days | $13.81 |
| 21 days | $20.71 |
| 28 days | $27.62 |
| 60 days or more | $59.18 |

This is an estimate, not a loan offer. It shows what interest would come to at the published APR for the figures you entered. It is not an application, not an approval, and not a quote — approval, loan amount, APR, fees and funding time are decided by the participating financial institution, and the binding figures are the ones on the disclosures you are given before you agree to the product.
Available amounts, rates and terms depend on which participating financial institution processes your application. Both are shown here so you can see the difference before anything is submitted.
Loans provided by Pathward, N.A., Member FDIC
A $2,500 loan representing 50% of an expected refund, borrowed over a 29-day term: total payable in a single payment is $2,571.51 including interest.
Loans provided by First Century Bank, N.A., Member FDIC
A $2,000 loan with a 30-day repayment period: the total amount payable in a single payment is $2,059.16 including principal and interest.
Do not read any of this as an offer. Rates, amounts and availability are set by the lenders, change between seasons, and the figures that bind are the ones on the disclosures you are given before you agree to a product.
They arrive at different times, from different organisations, on different terms. The distinction matters most when something goes wrong.
| Refund advance | Your tax refund | |
|---|---|---|
| What it is | A loan from a bank, based on your anticipated refund. | Your actual money, paid by the IRS. |
| Who decides | The participating financial institution, by its own underwriting. | The IRS, once it finishes processing your return. |
| When you get it | Potentially within a day or so of approval, during the season. | When the IRS releases it — nothing speeds that up. |
| What it costs | 0% APR on select $250/$500/$1,000 options; interest applies above that. | Nothing. It is your own money. |
| How it ends | Repaid out of your refund when the IRS releases it. | Paid to you, less any fees or products you authorised. |
| Is it guaranteed | No. Approval is never guaranteed. | The refund is yours, though the IRS can reduce or offset it. |

A refund advance is an optional loan based on your anticipated federal tax refund. It lets qualifying taxpayers reach a portion of an expected refund before the IRS finishes processing and issuing the full amount. It is not your actual tax refund — it is a loan from a participating financial institution, generally repaid out of your refund once the IRS releases it.
No. Every refund advance is subject to approval by the participating financial institution, based on its identity-verification requirements, eligibility criteria and underwriting guidelines. Elite Pro-Tax does not make approval decisions and cannot guarantee that you will be approved or receive any particular amount.
The amount depends on your anticipated federal refund and the financial institution's current programme. Refund Advantage offers loans of $250 (where available), $500 and $1,000, and loans equal to 25%, 50% or 75% of an expected refund with a minimum of $1,250 and a maximum of $7,500.
Through Santa Barbara Tax Products Group, Fast Cash Advance loans are offered in amounts from $500 to $7,000.
The $7,500 figure is available only to well-qualified applicants who meet the lender's expected-refund and underwriting requirements. A large refund does not by itself qualify you for the largest advance.
It depends on the amount and the provider. Refund Advantage offers select $250, $500 and $1,000 loans at 0% APR — the cost to you on those is $0. Its larger loans, from $1,250 up to $7,500, carry a 36% APR, and interest accrues only for the days between the loan being approved and your refund repaying it, capped at 60 days.
Santa Barbara Tax Products Group's Fast Cash Advance works differently: loans run from $500 to $7,000 and every one of them carries a 35.99% APR — there is no 0% option on that product. As their own example puts it, a $2,000 loan with a 30-day repayment period comes to $2,059.16 in a single payment, including principal and interest.
Other tax-preparation, Refund Transfer, bank-product, card, check or processing fees may also apply and are separate from the loan's APR. The applicable disclosures are provided before you agree to anything.
Many applicants get a decision shortly after the completed return and application are submitted, and approved clients may receive funds as early as the same day depending on the product and disbursement method chosen. Additional identity verification, bank processing times, weekends and holidays can all delay both. We cannot guarantee same-day approval or funding.
Out of your tax refund. When the IRS releases the refund to the participating financial institution, the advance and any applicable interest and authorised fees are deducted, and the remaining balance is disbursed to you by the method you selected. There is no separate repayment for you to make in the ordinary case.
The IRS or another agency can reduce a refund for past-due federal or state tax, past-due child support, certain unemployment-related debts, other federal agency debts, or corrections made to your return. If your refund comes back smaller than expected, you may still owe an unpaid balance under the terms of your loan agreement. The lender's disclosures set out the complete repayment requirements.
Your tax return is still e-filed and processed normally — a declined advance is not a declined refund, and has nothing to do with whether the IRS accepts your return. The financial institution may send you a notice explaining its decision. Elite Pro-Tax cannot reverse or override it.
No. Those are two separate decisions by two separate organisations. The IRS can still review, adjust, delay, reduce or offset your refund after your return has been accepted for processing, whether or not an advance was approved.
No. Nothing speeds up IRS processing. An advance gives you earlier access to part of the money; the rest of your refund still arrives on the IRS's timetable. Returns claiming certain refundable credits are held by law until a set date each year regardless of when they were filed.
A refund advance is a loan. A Refund Transfer is not — it is a service that lets authorised tax-preparation and processing fees be deducted from your refund when it is released, instead of being paid upfront. Choosing to pay your preparation fees from your refund does not mean you will be approved for an advance, and a Refund Transfer carries its own bank-product fee.
Generally a completed federal return showing an anticipated refund, plus a valid unexpired government-issued photo ID, Social Security cards or acceptable tax-identification documents, current contact information and mailing address, all required income documents, and bank details if you want direct deposit. Further documentation may be required depending on your return or the lender's verification process.
Usually not. The advance option normally has to be selected and the application completed as part of the original filing process, so once a return has been transmitted it is generally too late. Tell us you are interested before your return is filed.
A complete and accurate return has to be prepared from acceptable tax documents, and a final pay stub is generally not a substitute for a Form W-2. We will tell you which income documents are needed before your return can be completed and filed.
The financial institution decides what verification and underwriting it uses for each product, so review the lender's current disclosures to see whether a credit inquiry is involved and whether it could affect your credit. Elite Pro-Tax cannot make credit-reporting determinations on the lender's behalf.
Eligibility is generally based on your anticipated federal refund. State refunds are handled separately, and available products and repayment terms depend on the participating financial institution's current programme.
Yes, always. Applying is entirely optional, and your return can be prepared and electronically filed without an advance or a Refund Transfer. Nobody here will push you toward a product you do not want.
Because the things you authorised come out of it first: an approved advance and its interest, tax-preparation fees, Refund Transfer or processing fees, any other product you agreed to, and any adjustment or offset made by the IRS or another agency. Your final paperwork lists every product and fee you authorised.
They are seasonal. Pre-acknowledgement advances run from January 2 until the IRS opens e-file, in-season advances are available from the first day of filing, and applications are accepted through March 15. Products, amounts, qualifications, fees and availability can be changed, limited or discontinued without notice — call us for the current season's terms and deadlines.

A refund advance is an optional tax-refund-related loan and is not the taxpayer’s actual tax refund. Elite Pro-Tax & Financial Services is not the lender and does not make loan-approval decisions.
Refund Advantage loans are provided by Pathward, N.A., Member FDIC. Refund Advantage currently offers qualifying applicants loans of $250, $500 and $1,000 at 0% APR. Its interest-bearing loans are offered in amounts equal to 25%, 50% or 75% of the anticipated federal refund, with a minimum loan of $1,250 and a maximum of $7,500, at 36% APR. The $7,500 loan is available only to well-qualified applicants who satisfy the lender’s applicable requirements.
Fast Cash Advance is an optional tax-refund related loan provided by First Century Bank, N.A., Member FDIC (it is not the actual tax refund) and is available at participating locations. The amount of the loan and applicable interest will be deducted from tax refunds and will reduce the amount that is paid directly to the taxpayer from the refund. Fees for other optional products or product features may apply and will be disclosed at the time of application. Tax returns may be filed electronically without applying for this loan. Loans are offered to qualifying customers in amounts from $500-$7,000 and, if approved, are paid either pre-IRS acknowledgment of the tax return or post-IRS acknowledgment of the tax return. All loans have an Annual Percentage Rate (APR) of 35.99%. For example, for a loan of $2,000 with a repayment period of 30 days, the total amount payable in a single payment is $2,059.16 including principal and interest. Not all consumers will qualify for a loan or for the maximum loan amount. Offer and terms subject to change at any time without prior notice.
Pre-acknowledgement Fast Cash Advance is available from January 2. In-season Fast Cash Advance is available from the first day of filing.
Approval, loan amount, interest rate, funding time and availability are subject to identity verification, eligibility criteria, underwriting requirements, state restrictions, software-provider availability and the participating financial institution’s current programme terms.
Additional tax-preparation, Refund Transfer, processing, bank-product, card, check or optional-product fees may apply. These fees are separate from the loan’s APR and will be disclosed when applicable.
Tax returns may be electronically filed without applying for a refund advance or Refund Transfer. Programmes, dates, amounts, APRs, fees and terms are subject to change.
